Bush describes the critical decisions that shaped his presidency and personal life.”

Decision Points is the extraordinary memoir of America’s 43rd president. Shattering the conventions of political autobiography, George W. Bush offers a strikingly candid journey through the defining decisions of his life.

In gripping, never-before-heard detail, President Bush brings readers inside the Texas Governor s Mansion on the night of the hotly contested 2000 election; aboard Air Force One on 9/11, in the hours after America s most devastating attack since Pearl Harbour; at the head of the table in the Situation Room in the moments before launching the war in Iraq; and behind the Oval Office desk for his historic and controversial decisions on the financial crisis, Hurricane Katrina, Afghanistan, Iran, and other issues that have shaped the first decade of the 21st century.

President Bush writes honestly and directly about his flaws and mistakes, as well as his accomplishments reforming education, treating HIV/AIDS in Africa, and safeguarding the country amid chilling warnings of additional terrorist attacks. He also offers intimate new details on his decision to quit drinking, discovery of faith, and relationship with his family.

For the first time, we learn President Bush’s perspective and insights on:

His decision to quit drinking and the journey that led him to his Christian faith

The selection of the vice president, secretary of defense, secretary of state, Supreme Court justices, and other key officials

His relationships with his wife, daughters, and parents, including heartfelt letters between the president and his father on the eve of the Iraq War

His administration’s counterterrorism programs, including the CIA’s enhanced interrogations and the Terrorist Surveillance Program

Why the worst moment of the presidency was hearing accusations that race played a role in the federal government’s response to Hurricane Katrina, and a critical assessment of what he would have done differently during the crisis

His deep concern that Iraq could turn into a defeat costlier than Vietnam, and how he decided to defy public opinion by ordering the troop surge

His legislative achievements, including tax cuts and reforming education and Medicare, as well as his setbacks, including Social Security and immigration reform

The relationships he forged with other world leaders, including an honest assessment of those he did and didn’t trust

Why the failure to bring Osama bin Laden to justice ranks as his biggest disappointment and why his success in denying the terrorists their fondest wish—attacking America again—is among his proudest achievements

A groundbreaking new brand of presidential memoir, Decision Points will captivate supporters, surprise critics, and change perspectives on eight remarkable years in American history—and on the man at the center of events.

Since leaving office, President George W. Bush has led the George W. Bush Presidential Center at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. The center includes an active policy institute working to advance initiatives in the fields of education reform, global health, economic growth, and human freedom, with a special emphasis on promoting social entrepreneurship and creating opportunities for women around the world. It will also house an official government archive and a state-of-the-art museum that will open in 2013.

He had fought himself, and found himself. He had fought his enemies, who were his friends, and won—and lost.”

Captain Rodney Savage of the 13th Rifles, Bengal Native Infantry, celebrates the start of 1857 with his wife and friends in the isolated cantonment of Bhowani. Little does he realize that in spite of his empathy with the sepoys, fear and resentment are driving them to intrigue with local rulers and other conspirators against the rule of the British East India Company. In the following months, tension erupts into violence and the British begin to wonder whether even their closest servants are trustworthy.

Though most of the British officers of the Bhowani garrison and their families—including Savage’s own wife—are killed in the outbreak, Savage escapes the massacre along with his infant son and Caroline Langford, a visitor from England, to head out on an adventure that is going to change his life, and his perspective of India, forever.

Combining the flare of a true storyteller with an intuitive sense of history born of his deep knowledge and love of India, John Masters recreates the horror of the Great Revolt of 1857. First published in 1951, only four years after the end of the Raj, and a prequel to Bhowani Junction, Nightrunners of Bengal remains as graphic, intense and gripping a tale as any modern novel of suspense.

About the Author:

John Masters was a general in the British Army and the fifth member of his family to serve in India. After completing his education in England he joined the Fourth Prince of Wales Own Gurkha Rifles and served on the North-West Frontier. During World War II he fought in the Middle East before joining General Wingate’s Chindits in Burma. He tired from the army in 1948 and went to live in the USA where he turned to writing.

Chapters are designed as learning units.”

Electronic Business may be defined as the application of information and communication technologies (ICT) in support of all the activities of business. Commerce constitutes the exchange of products and services between businesses, groups and individuals and can be seen as one of the essential activities of any business. Electronic commerce focuses on the use of ICT to enable the external activities and relationships of the business with individuals, groups and other businesses.

Electronic business methods enable companies to link their internal and external data processing systems more efficiently and flexibly, to work more closely with suppliers and partners, and to better satisfy the needs and expectations of their customers. In practice, e-business is more than just e-commerce. While e-business refers to more strategic focus with an emphasis on the functions that occur using electronic capabilities, e-commerce is a subset of an overall e-business strategy. E-commerce seeks to add revenue streams using the World Wide Web or the Internet to build and enhance relationships with clients and partners and to improve efficiency using the Empty Vessel strategy. Often, e-commerce involves the application of knowledge management systems.

This book take you through the relationships your company can have with other companies (B2B, E-Purchasing, E-Procurement, And Portals), with its customers (B2B, CRM, And E-Talking), and with its employees (B2B, Corporate Portals, access, and infrastructure). As we go through these topics you will learn about leading corporations and suppliers in each area and what their products can do for you. We always talk about alternatives and decisions. Because we understand the technical side of the systems, we understand that you can’t build a house without a foundation. This book takes you through the infrastructures you need to support E-Business.

About the Author:

Overall this book expands on the problematic nature of disaster management. It has done so by stressing how the basic conceptual basis of disaster management, preparedness, has little scientific grounding and is plagued by conflicting interpretations, all of which suit organizational demands rather than the potential victims needs. Further it reviews related to hazard vulnerability, disaster event characteristics and pre-impact emergency management interventions as determinants of disaster impacts.

It illustrates global patterns in disaster risk and development and introduces the concept of sustainable development as vision for creating disaster-resilient places. Further it outlines a vision for IT-enhanced disaster management in terms of six areas of IT-based capabilities with existing IT use in disaster management and to highlight how to progress would have tangible positive impacts.

It blends the art and the science of decision making into accessible steps that lead you to consider your choices both intuitively and analytically.”

Purposeful selection from among a set of alternatives in light of a given objective is called decision making. Decision-making is not a separate function of management. In fact, decision-making is intertwined with the other functions, such as Planning, Coordinating, and Controlling. These functions all require that decisions be made. For example, at the outset, management must make a critical decision as to which of several strategies would be followed. Such a decision is often called a strategic decision because of its long-term impact on the organization. Also, managers must make scores of lesser decisions, tactical and operational, all of which are important to the organization’s well-being.

As a leader or responsible person we often stuck with decision making its our job to make decisions that are in the best interest of the whole organization or to ourselves we must consider the good of many not of a few this is a big responsibility and very often people don’t appreciate our efforts in fact many times people get angry at us because of the decisions we make to help them in this book we discuss decision making style not the decision itself but style we hope that readers will appreciate this effort.

Overall, it’s an exciting read.”

Critical management studies (CMS) is a loose but rapidly growing grouping of politically left wing and theoretically innovative approaches to management, business and organization, grounded in a critical theory perspective. It encompasses a wide range of perspectives that are critical of traditional theories of management. Critical Management Studies (CMS) initially brought together critical theory and post-structuralist writings, but has since developed in more diverse directions.

A dominant narrative within CMS is that perhaps the most important development in its stimulation was the global expansion of business schools, an American invention, especially in Europe. Decreases in state funding, so the narrative has it, for social sciences and increases in funding for business schools during the 1980s resulted in many academics with graduate training in sociology, history, philosophy, psychology and other social sciences ending up with jobs “training managers”. However, what business schools are or should do has always been debated.

These academics brought different theoretical tools and political perspectives into business schools. They began to question the politics of managerialism and did not automatically buy into its often conservative ideology. These new voices drew on the Frankfurt School of critical theory, and the work of Michel Foucault, Jacques Derrida and Gilles Deleuze. Feminism, queer theory, post-colonial theory, anarchism, ecological philosophies, and radical democratic theory also had some influence.

Critical Management Study is an increasingly popular specialization in organizational studies. It looks like a promising area of study, especially for scholars in organizational communication. This book explores the issues and tensions of critical management studies. The book makes a particular contribution to the shape and directions of critical management studies and also comments on the issues for further consideration.
